More than just the sequence

Analysis of the structure and relative abundance of the bacterial and archaeal community in a complex sample is possible by sequencing the 16S rRNA gene. 10,000 to 100,000 of measurements are performed for each sample, which provides high community resolution. Up to 500 bp of the 16S gene can be analyzed and we have standard workflows, which target the variable region of the 16S that best suits different environments (V1-3, V4, V3-4, V3-5 and many more). We have experience with analyzing samples from many different environments – drinking water, cow milk, activated sludge, soil etc.
